It has been anticipated that 431 ships with 553,000 passengers are to come in two Montenegrin ports (Port of Kotor and Port of Bar), during 2018. If we take into account that at least half of them would like to visit a city and that each one of them would spend around €40, this means these two Montenegrin cities could generate more than €11m in revenues.

The country’s biggest ports generated large profit in 2017 as well, i.e. they welcomed 439 cruise visits and about 543,000 passengers and therefore earned around €10,86m.

According to the Tourism Organization of Kotor, the harbor welcomed 430 cruise ships and 532,387 passengers the previous year. Only half of the passengers actually visit the city, they say.

Branko Kovačević, director of Port of Kotor, has confirmed this data. “415 cruise ships have been expected this year and we estimate that about 519,660 passengers will come as well,” Kovačević stated, adding that he has been satisfied with the arrivals announced for 2019.

In pursuit of greater arrivals, Port of Bar has been striving to become one of the leading cruise harbors and with assistance of Global Port Holding, which is one of the majority owners of Port of Adria, it has been enabled to carry out certain strategic actions. “This year, we expect 16 arrivals and about 33,000 passengers,” Tanja Novović, coordinator of cruise activities, told to Dnevne Novine.
