Election of Constitutional Court judges not in sight

A day after the Venice Commission has urged MPs to elect judges of the Constitutional Court without delay, TVCG has checked whether the parties would listen to those suggestions. As things stand now, no one deviates from their previously held positions.

Elect four judges of the Constitutional Court without delay – this is the latest invitation from the Venice Commission. There were other similar invitations from the international scene, and our MPs say they read them all the same.

“We voted for those people last time and we will vote this time too, and we invite the opposition to do the same. As far as I know, none of those people who were elected to the Constitutional Committee have anything to do with DF, the Democrats, URA, or SNP”, says Jovan Vucurovic (DF).

DPS would also work towards a way out of the crisis, but they say that they will not follow a path that imposes unilateral solutions.

“I know that all eyes are on the parliamentary opposition, we still have chances and opportunities to take a step back, to make an agreement between the government and the opposition at the Constitutional Committee and to elect the judges of the Constitutional Court on the basis of that agreement”, says DPS MP Danijel Zivkovic.

SD and SDP are of the same opinion. SD and SDP have announced that without an agreement, the majority cannot count on their votes.
