Elections if DPS says so

Leader of Ulcinj branch of DPS Ljoro Nrekic says that DPS is ready to run into fixed-term or snap elections for the city council, but that the party’s position is that the voting should be scheduled for 26 November along with local elections in Petnjica, Mojkovac and Cetinje.

If DPS decides that elections are to be scheduled for 26 November, then it will be so.

DPS suggested shortening the city council’s term of office to their coalition partners.

“We haven’t reached a decision yet”, Nrekic told Dnevne Novine daily.

Opposition also agrees that snap elections should be called. Leader of local branch of SD Skender Elezagic says that early elections are necessary taking into account the results achieved by the current leadership. He believes that Forca and DPS will decide on the election date.

“State interests will affect decision on the date. If there are things on the state level in which DPS depends on Forca, then it will have to give in and Forca will schedule the elections,” Elezagic said.

Forca wants the elections to be scheduled after city council’s term of office expires, ie at the beginning of next year.
