Electricity price won’t be cheaper next year

EPCG

Prices of the electricity in Montenegro won’t be any cheaper next year, reads the  Business Report of the Electric Power Company of Montenegro. Cheaper prices would mean a risk for the operation of the company.

The Report explains that the new legislation stipulates that since the beginning of January 2017, the price for distributive consumers is formed on the basis of the market price from the reference Hungarian power exchange, HUPX.

As far as the performance indicators are concerned, EPCG finished the third quarter with the net income of 43,06 million EUR. Business income of the company amounted 225 million EUR. Business expenses fell by 10,4 % and amounted 186,19 million EUR.

Taking over coal mine in Pljevlja, in the middle of this year, was instigated by the conclusion of electricity production in the Thermal Power Plant.

“That way, there are possibilities for management and rationalization of the coal expenditures within the EPCG, which should reduce the cost price of the electricity production in the Thermal Power Plant Pljevlja”, reads the report.
