End-of-life vehicles regularly imported and sold in ME

Owners of around 10 companies selling used cars from abroad gathered yesterday and complained about people who import and then regularly sell the end-of-life vehicles predicted for destruction.

“We’ve heard about a man who has been importing hundreds of vehicles not confirmed as safe for driving in any country. Documents of those end-of-life vehicles in the EU are destroyed. Unfortunately, those vehicles are regularly examined and registered before being taken into use in Montenegro,” emphasized Duško Pejović, a private seller of used cars.

First end-of-life vehicles came to Nikšić in March and since then, several tow trucks have been importing vehicles every single week, complained Milan Drašković. He said he didn’t oppose importing vehicles in Montenegro, but required adequate import controls.

Željko Vilotijević has been importing used cars from Germany for 12 years and claims he has been familiar with the import procedures very well, but seems that not all people respect them. According to him, the end-of-life vehicles are regularly imported in Montenegro and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering issues certificates as if there was nothing strange about it.
