EPCG and KFW sign €33 million worth contract on reconstruction of Perućica

Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG) signed today the contract on the reconstruction and modernization of hydro power plant Perućica with the KFW Bank.

Contract worth €33 million was signed by CEO of EPCG, Mr Igor Noveljić and chief project manager of KFW, Mr Bodo Schmuelling.

Last year EPCG started a five-year cycle of investments whose implementation is underway.

“Reconstruction and modernization of existing facilities will provide stable work and extension of the working life of hydro power plants. Introduction of advanced technologies and contemporary management information systems will enable automation and open up possibilities for provision of systemic and auxiliary services for the electricity system of Montenegro and regional market. We are also focused on renewable energy sources. In that context, we had planned construction of solar plant and wind farm. In addition, installation of the eighth aggregate in Perućica will provide new quantity of energy”, said Mr Noveljić.

The second phase of the reconstruction and modernization of Perućica encompasses reconstruction and modernization of hydro-mechanical and electric equipment of aggregates A5, A6 and A7, hydro-mechanical equipment of shutters, equipment for hydro measurements, installation of integral information system, reconstruction of building facilities, recovery of Opačica channel and reconstruction of Moštanica channel.

Director of the Directorate for Development in the EPCG, Mr Ivan Mrvaljević, said that tender for construction works would be submitted in October or November.

Tender for the entire electric-mechanical part is expected to be invited at the beginning of 2020.

Mr Mrvaljević announced the project of the installation of the eighth aggregate.

“Part of credit arrangement (€700.000) will be earmarked for the development of project and tender documentation for the selection of equipment supplier and contractor for aggregate A8 with nominal power of 58,5 MW. This project is estimated to cost €23 million”, said Mr Mrvaljević.

According to Ms Dragic Sekulić, Minister of Economy, favorable credit arrangement with German Development Bank will create conditions for the installation of the eighth aggregate in Perućica hydro power plant.
