Eraković: We have to be responsible and disciplined

A total of 51 patients were tested today. There are four new coronavirus cases, head of the Clinical Center of Montenegro, Mr Jevto Eraković, told the press today.

According to him, three factors are key in battling the coronavirus pandemic.

  1. Measures taken by the govt and the National Coordination Body;
  2. Readiness of the healthcare system – and it turned out that it is ready to respond to the challenges that lie ahead;
  3. Citizens’ attitude regarding the situation.

“We have good conditions, measure are also fine, but if we want to win, we need to be responsible and disciplined. A large number of people do not abide by the measures. However, we have to make an impact on them. Days that follow will be the most difficult for us. If we don’t maintain discipline, we won’t reach results we aspire to,“ noted Mr Eraković.

There are 14 patients tested positive for Covid-19 and treated at the Clinical Center.

There’s no curfew

Head of the Crisis Operational Staff for Health, Mr Ranko Lazović, believes maintaining discipline is crucial.

“The National Coordination Body introduced a new measure yesterday, as some citizens decided to go for a walk on a sunny day. There is no curfew, but rather prevention. We want to help everybody, but if you’re not disciplined, our help will be useless. There are 2.130 medics we can count on, and we must not forget our nurses – 3.323 of them. Doctors cannot do their job without them,“ Mr Lazović noted.

We have enough medical staff

We have enough medical staff right now, according to Mr Lazović.

There are enough ventilators to cope with Covid-19

Mr Eraković underlined that everyone should know we have more than enough ventilators. We are preparing for the worst-case scenarios, we’ve established high standards so that we can have enough ventilators in case of a major coronavirus outbreak.

Mr Lazović, on the other hand, reflected on a number of isolated healthcare workers, noting that they’re not worried about the situation.

Current epidemiological situation is good

“The situation is good for now. If we continue to abide by the recommended measures, everything will be all right. There will be more serious cases, undesired results, but to a lesser extent if only we could respect the measures,” Mr Eraković told.

He continued: “All healthcare workers under surveillance are feeling well and tested negative for Covid-19.”

Specialists were urged to come back to MNE

“We cannot give up on the services of any medic in our healthcare system. 79 specialists returned to the Clinical Center and they are under surveillance. We made special procedures for their testing so that we can know whether we may count on them or nor,” Mr Eraković was adamant.
