EU funds offer great amount of possibilities

Sa konferencije

Today more than ever, Montenegrin companies have possibilities to improve their business, especially through the use of pre-accession EU funds, which is of crucial importance for the reinforcement of economic structure, said main negotiator Aleksandar Drljević at the conference “Balkans and the EU- five-year cycle of Berlin Process” held in Budva.

Drljević pointed out that accession negotiations, although very long and demanding process, represent the best possible mechanism for the development of the capacities the state lacks, adoption of European standards and overall development.

“Apart from political reforms, we are working diligently on the fulfillment of economic criteria for the membership. Reforms in the area of economy strengthen the economic sector, improve the business environment and prepare us for the participation at the market with over 500 million consumers once we enter the EU. No customs and other import restrictions” ,said Drljević.

As he said, thanks to the implementation of various support programs, in cooperation with neighbors and the EU, the Montenegrin administration is constantly working on developing high-quality infrastructure in the areas of transport end energy. He mentioned programs Cosma and Horizon 2020 in particular which aim to stimulate competitiveness of small and medium enterprises and achievement of key EU objectives related to research, technological development and innovation.

“Apart from that, we’re turning Montenegro into an attractive destination for investments. What proves that Montenegro is a safe destination for investments is our stable path towards the EU, and NATO membership”, said Drljević.

Deputy chief negotiator, Ivana Glišević-Đurović, said that Montenegro is very successful at attracting EU funds and she also pointed out the importance of Berlin process in the implementation of reforms on our way towards the EU.
