EU provides medical equipment for Montenegrin healthcare system

Ambassadors of EU Member States accredited in Montenegro and Head of the EU Delegation, Mr Aivo Orac, said that they would be with Montenegro in good times and also when it “is faced with difficulties”.

Yesterday, agreement between the EU, UNDP and the Government of Montenegro was signed as a response to Montenegro’s need for immediate support in dealing with COVID-19 crisis.

“This agreement envisages €3 million for urgent needs of Montenegrin healthcare system, through acquisition of medical device and medical equipment”, they say.

All this support provided by the EU is a joint contribution of all member states and expression of solidarity of European citizens.

Apart from that, scores of nationals of Montenegro and the EU were able to come back to their homelands thanks to unprecedented efforts and tight cooperation among EU Member States.

“Our support doesn’t stop here. In order to contribute to the mitigation of consequences provoked by coronavirus, the EU will support the recovery of our WB partners. That refers to our support for the private sector, increase in social protection, with special focus on vulnerable groups and strengthening of the healthcare system. Around €50 million will be earmarked for Montenegro in that context”, Mr Orav said.

Another important proof of the EU’s commitment to WB is then fact it holds its promises.
