Exemption of judge required because of father’s cousin

A year ago, former RTCG CEO Rade Vojvodic filed a complaint against the RTCG Public Broadcaster and its Council, accusing the governing body of having unlawfully dismissed him.

Then a court case was launched, but it has not been completed yet. At this moment it is not certain when this will happen. The latest reason for which the RTCG’s attorney required judge Katarina Jankovic to be exempted from the case is the suspicion that she could be bias because former TVCG director Radmila Vojvodic (who has nothing to do with the case) is Jankovic’s father’s cousin.

The decision on the request for the exemption shall be made by the President of the Basic Court in Podgorica.

Dnevne Novine calls to mind that Jankovic is the fourth judge to whom the case has been assigned during the past 11 months since the lawsuit was filed. Each of the judges refused to decide on the case by either being exempted or requiring an exemption.
