The Italian and Russian Eni-Novatek consortium starts exploratory drilling tomorrow. It should show whether there is oil in the Montenegrin offshore, the Ministry of Capital Investments has told CdM.
The Topaz Driller drilling platform arrived in Montenegro in mid-March.
The Government expects that Montenegro will reap significant benefits from this work and that it will be one of the main things that will make Montenegro diversify its economy and that it will no longer be dependent only on tourism and services.
NGOs dealing with environmental protection believe that this exploration could endanger the environment. It’s recalled that the current Government representatives were against this exploration while they were in opposition.
