Flights canceled, crowds huge, airports facing chaos

With the resumption of air traffic after the closure due to the coronavirus pandemic, many airlines in Europe have to cancel flights due to lack of workers, and some airports are in chaos because they cannot absorb the increased number of passengers. Several European Ryanair cabin crew unions have called for a strike next weekend in France, Spain, Belgium, Italy and Portugal, while the Spanish union is also calling for a nine-day strike in July at EasyJet. Crowds at airport counters across Europe are getting longer, and passengers have no choice but to be patient.

Montenegrin citizens are also facing flight cancellations these days. As CdM has reported, Air Montenegro’s flight from Paris to Podgorica, which was originally planned for 7 July, has been postponed to 9 July.

A few days ago, the flight to Tivat from Belgrade of the AirSerbia airline was canceled.

Fuel prices have risen significantly due to the war in Ukraine. Russian airspace is closed. Planes flying to the Far East have to use detours, and longer flights only increase costs.

Airlines are facing a big challenge because what has been happening at European airports in recent weeks shows what can happen when the summer season is in full swing – passengers will arrive later at their desired destinations or will cancel their trips.
