Football fans’ revenge may be the motive of bomb attack against Roganovic

Dusko Roganovic from Herceg Novi is still in the intensive care unit of the national hospital in Podgorica. He is conscious and in stable condition. Roganovic is expected to make a statement to criminal police officers in the coming days, Dnevne Novine newspaper reports.

Roganovic’s statement to the investigators might be crucial for solving the attempted murder case. The investigation is currently focused in one direction.

Criminal police believe that football fans’ revenge may be the motive of the attack, DN writes. According to police, the Crvena Zvezda (red Star) fans group Delije might have plotted the revenge against Roganovic for the murder of their former leader Marko Vesnic, whereas serious regional criminal organisations provided logistics support to them. Roganovic lost both his legs in a horrific explosion near the main bus station in Herceg Novi at about 2:40pm on Tuesday. The remote controlled bomb was planted under his golf 5 car and was activated while the vehicle was in motion

Since he got out of prison in January 2016, Roganovic often stayed in Belgrade. Lately he was particularly rarely in Herceg Novi. He entered Montenegro from Albania on 19 April.

For the time being, it is not known when and where the executioners placed explosives under his car. However, current expert analyses have showed that the remote bomb was set up under the right side of the vehicle, which is why Roganovic was not killed but lost both his legs.

In the reconstruction of the case, the inspectors observed that the organisers carefully executed the entire criminal plan, making sure that there were no other occupants in Roganovic’s vehicle when they activated the explosives and that there were no other cars or passers-by in his vicinity. It is not known whether the bomb was activated by remote controller or through a mobile phone.

According to collected operational data, police currently have only one investigation direction which leads to the Delije football fans club, whose leader Vesnic was killed on 24 July 2009 in Herceg Novi. Roganovic was sentenced to 8 years in prison for his murder.

It is believed that the Red Star fans were particularly irritated by Roganovic’s frequent stays in Belgrade where he was often accompanied by Veljko Belivuk, dubbed Velja Nevolja (Velja the Trouble), the leader of the rival Partizan fan group Grobari. Belivuk has recently been in custody for the murder of Vlastimir Milosevic from Belgrade. He is suspected of shooting Milosevic in the head and leaving him on the tram rails.

In addition to Belivuk, Roganovic was a good friend of late Aleksandar Stankovic dubbed Sale Mutavi, another Grobari leader. Stankovic’s murder was said to be associated with members of the Montenegrin criminal scene.

Serbian media reported that Stankovic was brought in connection with the smuggling large amount of cocaine, which is allegedly why he was brutally killed in front of the Central Prison gates.

Herceg Novi Police questioned several people believed to belong to criminal scene on Tuesday and Wednesday. Zoran Mrvaljevic called Mrva and several of his associates were particularly interrogated. However, according to unofficial information, all of them had a convincing alibi for the time when the explosion occurred.

After the hearings, no one was detained in the police, but the checks will be continued in the coming days.
