German and Slovenian businessmen evince great interest in Podgorica

Capital City manager, Mr Marjan Junčaj, and administrator of the Office for international cooperation, Ms Ljiljana Šćepanović, in cooperation with the embassies of Germany and Slovenia, invited German and Slovenian businessmen to invest in Podgorica, presenting them a set of possibilities in the area of energy and industry, technology, tourism and hospitality, transport, healthcare system, real estate, sport, culture and entertainment.

Mr Junčaj presented four steps defined to make the investment process easier.

The first step is the intention letter with references, which is sent to the Capital Administration. The second step is the Administration’s response.

The third step includes negotiation and tender procedure, and the fourth step is the conclusion of the agreement.

“We have a very professional approach to every proposal and we devote special attention to investment proposals which we identify as particularly important for residents of Podgorica and development of Montenegro in general”, pointed out Mr Junčaj.

Ambassador of Slovenia, Mr Gregor Pesker, said that, despite small population, demands for services and goods in Montenegro is huge, owing to the fact that more than  2 million tourists visit Montenegro every year.

He pointed out that representatives of Slovenian business were very satisfied with their business operations in Montenegro.

He also showed readiness to mediate in attracting German investors to Podgorica.

“Slovenians work in German companies in Slovenia. They know Montenegro, they know the language and are familiar with the circumstances. We are here to try to pull some German investment in Slovenia into Montenegro too. We would be glad to make that happen”, pointed out Mr Presker.

German Ambassador, Mr Robert Weber, said that German business community in Montenegro was still very small, but that they working on expanding it.

He agreed that Slovenian businessmen could considerably add to that process.

Mr Weber stressed that events such as presentation of investment potentials, were very important as they showcased new ideas and enabled businessmen to find out useful information.

Ms Ljiljana Šćepanović, expressed hope that the presentation would be inspiring and encouraging.
