Government aims to reduce expenses of the transportation of goods

Sekulić

Dragica Sekulić, the Minister of Economy, said that the intention of the Montenegrin Government and the surroundings is to have accelerated trade, that is, to reduce the time of transportation and the expenses which incur while the goods goes from one country to another. She also stated that trade reliefs are a very important segment of the foreign trade since they influence the sustainable development and growth.

„A lot has been done in simplifying these procedures. Recently, we’ve simplified the procedures of import and export through the establishment of appropriate legal framework and agreements“, said Sekulić.

She added that, in March, the Government adopted the Strategy of trade reliefs as well as the Action plan for its implementation.

„The Strategy envisages that, by the end of 2022, the time of movement of goods across the Montenegrin border will be reduced by 50%, compared to the results in 2016, whereas the accompanying expenses will be 20% lower“, said Sekulić.

Sekulić believes that simplifying the procedures of import and export will have the greatest influence on small and medium enterprises.

„Conclusion of the negotiations on the Additional protocol 5 within CEFTA agreement contributed to the acceleration of the procedures at regional level. So far, Montenegro, Macedonia and Moldova have ratified this agreement and, according to the predictions of the World Economic Forum, the application of the agreement in these countries will increase the share of small and medium enterprises in the cross-border trade by 60-80%“, said Sekulić.
