Greater losses won’t increase the electricity price

Losses on the transmission network caused by the greater electricity transit that happens due to commissioning submarine cable, will be increased . However, this won’t be an additional burden for the consumers.

These losses refer exclusively to technical losses caused by the flow of electricity through the conductors and transformers.

“According to the valid methodology, costs of the provision of losses that are a consequence of transit, are refunded from the ITC mechanism, i.e. by the compensation between the operators of the transmission system and not by the tariff for the transmission that Montenegrin users pay. Level of technical losses in the transmission network is at the level of average in the European transmission networks”, said the representatives of the Montenegrin Electric Transmission system.

Energy balance envisaged a total of 180 gigawatt hours of losses, which is considerably higher than in the previous two years. The main cause is the increase in the electricity transit, consequence of the commission of submarine cable. Losses will be the highest in August and December.
