Works on the construction of the first highway section won’t be completed by the established deadline but next year, said director of the operational unit for highway management, Mr Goran Vujović.
“The delay is caused by the current situation and the organization of the contractor. During next year, highway will be in commercial use”, Mr Vujović says.
CRBC company, contractor of the highway, has made a request to investors for the extension of deadline.
Mr Vujović says it is ordinary procedure for this type of agreement.
“In line with the Contract on projection and construction, and in accordance with the clause of “force majeure”, the contractor has launched appropriate contract procedures and submitted request for the extension of deadline and additional payment. Details on the number of days and value of claims will be known when the present situation is over. The investor will, certainly, take care of the state interests”, Mr Vujović says.
Journalist asked Mr Vujović to explain who paid penalties in this situation.
His answer was precise – if the contractor fails to complete his works on time, it is obliged to pay the investor redress for delay.
