If MCP is satisfied with the opinion of Venice Commission, it’s good news

If the latest statement of a representative of the Orthodox Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral, MCP, Mr Velibor Džomić, means that the MCP is satisfied with the opinion of the Venice Commission on the proposal for the Draft Law on Freedom of Religion, even if the MCP itself believes the opinion is negative, then it’s good news, the Government of Montenegro said in a statement.

The Montenegrin govt has been very satisfied with the opinion of the Venice Commission and it’s ready to incorporate all suggestions and recommendations of it [Venice Commission] in the final version of the proposal for the Law.

“This means there’s no reason for continuation of the aggressive campaign that the Orthodox Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral has been running against the proposer of the Law,“ the Govt clearly stated.

As earlier reported, the Venice Commission clearly supported the proposed legal solutions referring to the protection of church property and cultural heritage that belong to all Montenegro citizens, at the same time praising many other significant aspects of the Draft Law.
