In addition to PM, inspections see no violations of measures in religious buildings

Iz Hrama Hristovog Vaskrsenja za Uskrs

The article is written by Mr Miraš Dušević and Ms Aleksandra Obradović.

By using a strawman argument, PM Zdravko Krivokapić said that the Church is the law above the law, the Constitution and above the state. The populism inherent in the Prime Minister and the new Government experienced its new form and expansion yesterday. No one will arrest priests because they do not respect epidemiological measures, and there is another life besides this earthly one. That’s what the Prime Minister says.

No one demanded that the priests be arrested or imprisoned. But they, just like all other citizens, must respect the laws and the Constitution of this country, as well as the measures against the spread of the coronavirus. And if they do not do that, and it has been seen countless times that they do not do it, then they must be sanctioned in the same way as citizens, or owners of hospitality facilities, who are severely punished for non-compliance with prescribed measures. And that’s how it should be. Without selective justice, inspections should do their job and fine all those who disobey regulations issued by state bodies.

For more than a year, citizens have been listening to what they need to do and how to behave to get out of the crisis caused by the pandemic. That is why there is no place for stories about arrests, but those about responsibility. That is why, from the position of the Prime Minister, Mr Krivokapić has to speak and do what the Constitution and laws dictate, call everyone to account, and carry out intimate feelings and everything else in his free time in the way he wants.
