It’s important to underscore specific warnings in the context of Montenegro’s European path

At the end of the electoral process, everybody has reasons to be satisfied, because Montenegro demonstrated democratic capacity, despite the announcements of impossible complications, said Montenegro’s president, Mr Milo Đukanović, during the meeting with the head of the observation mission of the European Network of Election Monitoring (ENEMO) in Montenegro, Mr Gianluca Passarelli.

Mr Đukanović said it was confirmation that we had not lost anything over the past 0 years and “regardless of critical observations and prejudice about the Balkans coming from specific addresses, we still have considerable number of practices that confirm the capacity for the European standard and EU membership”.

President expressed its gratitude to ENEMO for the contribution to democratic elections in Montenegro and pointed out that the presence of that Network in the midst of pandemic and limited participation of ODIHR was extremely important for the democratic character of the election process.

“He said that Montenegro would keep working on eliminating weaknesses and improving election system”, the statement said.

Mr Passarelli was honored to meet Mr Đukanović and convey his impressions of the Mission.

“Passarelli says he is witnessing a historic moment, not only because of the election result but also because of Mr Đukanović’s decision, which is a step forward towards democratic maturity. He pointed at specific warnings in the context of the future policy and Montenegro’s European path”, Mr Đukanović’s Cabinet reported.
