Interest rate of 2,99% in “1000+apartments” project

The Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism of Montenegro has stated that the new phase of resolving the housing needs of citizens under favorable conditions is due to start. A fixed interest rate will be the lowest so far, amounting to 2,99%, the Ministry states.

Director General of the Directorate for Housing Development, Marko Canovic, says the Ministry currently conducts negotiations with the banks related to the requirements for crediting the “1000+apartments” project.

“I assume the fixed interest rate is expected to be 2,99% (not to exceed 20 years),” said Canovic, adding that they expect the public call to be announced in February, after they finish negotiations with the banks and construction companies.

Public call for citizens will be announced in March.

Canovic also mentioned that €20m has been allocated to this phase of the project.

He reminded that all households with unresolved housing issues and fulfilled legal requirements are eligible to apply for the project. “40% of the loan is to be allocated to public sector employees and 30% to married couples before the age of 35. Special attention has been paid to people with disabilities, single parents and families with children having development difficulties, young people living without parents and victims of domestic abuse,” Canovic explained.

The novelty of this-year project is sale of the apartments in old buildings, citizens and companies will be able to offer them but they will have to submit a possession certificate.
