Kemp: Passionate patriotism has always united us

Alison Kemp

In an interview for the weekend edition of Dnevne Novine, ambassador of the United Kingdom to Montenegro, Alison Kemp told the UK intends to increase investments in the Western Balkans, which means in Montenegro as well. According to Kemp, the two countries will proceed with the implementation of projects in numerous areas, such as fight against organized crime and strengthening the rule of law, providing support for development of responsible and professional media, cyber security and support for democracy development and fighting corruption.

Kemp announced significant investments in Montenegro, adding that the UK Export Fund is going to send its mission to Montenegro, in order to start talks with the government and Montenegrin companies.

“Relations between the UK and Montenegro are based on shared values that both countries believe in. Those are: strong integrity, passionate patriotism, nation’s historical commitment and desire for improvements for future generations,” told Kemp.

She came to Montenegro last year, several weeks before Montenegro joined NATO, and was surprised to see so many potentials Montenegro possessed. Wherever she went, she met people craving for reforms.

Although the UK is about to exit the EU, it will not leave neither Europe nor this region, claimed Kemp. “Stability, progress and security of Europe affect us all and this is why our Prime Minister Theresa May has been committed to giving extra efforts in deepening our partnership with Montenegro and other countries of the region. The decisions on the EU enlargement will come after the UK exits the EU next year,” Kemp stressed.
