Knežević: Dačić wanted us to enter the Government in August

Knežević

President of the Democratic People’s Party and one of the leaders of Democratic Front, Milan Knežević, says for “Pobjeda” that Ivicas Dačić’s statement that the Serbs should enter the government of Duško Marković is not a new thing. He said the same thing at the meeting of the state authorities of Serbia held on 5 August.

“Since recently Dačić has been spending his time in Africa, convincing Lesotho and Uganda to withdraw their decision on the recognition of Kosovo, I expected that he would also support our action of collecting signatures for the annulment of the decision on the recognition of Kosovo that we have been implementing lately”, says Knežević.

During the TV program “Upitnik”, in which Dačić was invited to be a guest, he said that Serbs in Montenegro should form a coalition with the Democratic Party of Socialists and enter the Government. As Knežević says, this “piece of advice” of his does not correspond to his earlier statement that he doesn’t care what is going on in Montenegro.

“Around 185.000 citizens in Montenegro voted for the common country with Serbia on the referendum in 2006 and I do care for Serbia. We want to build the best possible relations with our brotherly nation. But, of course, there’s a possibility that my understanding of state policy is a little bit old-fashioned and that some more modern trends are in, such as the fact that Vice President of Serbia, Rasim Ljajić and Ramush Haradinaj drink espresso in Budva and chat while the Serbian  people in Montenegro is collecting signatures for the withdrawal of the recognition of Kosovo. Everybody has priorities. Somebody feels more attached to Haradinaj than to Serbs in Montenegro, somebody even more attached to Lesotho and Papua New Guinea. But after Montenegro, we mostly care for Serbia and its national interests”, says Knežević.

President of the Serbian National Council, Momčilo Vuksanović, thinks that it’s impossible to organize state seriously without Serbs.

“However, the current Government in Montenegro is working against the identity interests of Serbs and, therefore, they can’t be part of the Government”, said Vuksanović.
