Lazović: We have got 88 respirators and we are expecting more

Ranko Lazović

Montenegrin healthcare system disposes of 88 respirators and no patient is on respirator, said head of the Crisis Operational Headquarters, Dr Ranko Lazović.

He said that there would be more respirators by the end of the week.

Dr Lazović points out that healthcare system is fully functional and is getting ready for the worst scenario, although, hopefully, that won’t happen.

“It is very important that we have no patients on respirators. We won’t have problems with respirators and we are doing our best to maintain our system at the level of high functionality”, Dr Lazović said.

He stated that a number of doctors and medical staff were in self-isolation but the healthcare system was fully functional.

“There is no staff or technical shortage in any healthcare institution. There are enough doctors . I have organized everything according to military principle, we have reserves, just in case. We compensated medical staff in isolation”, Dr Lazović said.

Dr Senad Begić, epidemiologist, pointed out that scientist were more focused on the infected persons that recovered cases, and it was not known whether recovered persons would be immune to infection.

Long after recovery, recovered persons can be infectious.
