By the end of December of this year, the Government will choose the concessionaire who will manage the Airports in Podgorica and Tivat in the next 25 -30 years. For the advance payment of 100 million EUR and concession fee, the concessionaire will take over all activities of civil aviation for both airports, and it will also be in charge of designing the development assessment study for air ports in Berane and Ulcinj.

“According to the financial analysis of Airports, it is possible to require fixed fee paid in advance, in order to establish the payment of concession fee. This would enable the Government of Montenegro to cash in advance one part of the value of concession. Financial analysis indicates that amount of the fee is reasonable, considering the importance of capital investment (around 120 million EUR) which is going to be financed in advance by the concessionaire and while also taking into account risks related to the forecasts of tourism traffic”, says the document of the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs.

Total of 2, 52 million square meters of land in Podgorica will be held in the lease, together with 544.601 square meter of land in Tivat. Before that, the Ministry will have to acquire property rights on all locations. During the first four years, the concessionaire will have to widen the capacities of airports in Podgorica and Tivat and obey Montenegrin and ICAO standards. The concessionaire will also be responsible for financing the project as well as for bearing expenses related to the function of airports and their maintenance.
