While the public has been speculating about possible new investments of investor from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mohamed Alabbar, the locals of the Podgorica settlement ‘Sadine’ have come out with a concrete offer – they are ready to sell their land for a project that would turn this site into a new high-end urban complex, the daily Pobjeda writes.
According to them, Sadine is a rare combination of natural surroundings, traffic connections and extensive private land that has not yet been devastated by uncontrolled construction – unlike many other areas around the capital. Located along the main road and close to the future route of the high-speed road that would connect the north and south of the country, Sadine, according to them, could become a new exclusive urban settlement – comprising residential complex, green areas, tourist facilities and business areas.
Slavko Boljevic, one of the owners of the land in that area, says Sadine stretches at an area of about 140 hectares and is spread over an important strategic point. This is an area with exceptional potential, he adds, which has been waiting for serious and sustainable development for a long time. As he says, the locals are not asking for anything impossible – just fair conditions, to be included in planning and to see that there is a clear vision of the future look of the settlement.
“We have nothing against the arrival of serious investors like Mr. Alabbar – on the contrary, we believe an elite zone might emerge that would benefit both the locals and Podgorica. But we don’t want anyone to deceive or ignore us. We want locals to be involved in discussions, to know what is being planned and how. This land is the heritage of our ancestors – and we want our children to benefit from it,” Mr Boljevic notes.
He also claims the majority of owners would gladly offer their land to Mr Alabbar so that he could build an upscale Podgorica neighborhood.
