Maestral is back: A symbol of Montenegro’s tourism and investment potential

The renovated Maestral hotel was opened on Friday night. It is located in the Przno village near the Sveti Stefan island, one of the most beautiful parts of the Montenegrin coast.

This state-of-the-art hotel has 185 rooms and 22 apartments of modern and luxurious design. Each room has a balcony and most rooms have sea views. It also has a luxury Wellness & Spa Center. The hotel & resort Maestral met all the relevant standards and gained the long-awaited 5th star.

During the last two years, the Monte Rock Group has invested €50m to buy and refurbish the Maestral Hotel. The Adriatic Properties company, as part of the aforementioned investment group, has invested over €150m in the past 10 years.

Prime Minister Dusko Markovic was among numerous distinguished guests at the opening ceremony. He said that the government was strongly committed to swift and quality valorisation of our country’s potentials, primarily those in tourism. Therefore it is necessary to strengthen institutions and create a favourable business environment, the PM said.

“We are determined to provide a friendly investment environment, which should stimulate the growth of the economy, development and new jobs. With investors and their investments, we want to get what we need: knowledge and ability to better manage our potentials,” Markovic said at the opening ceremony in Przno.

Government appreciates Monte Rock’s efforts

Markovic said that our country had excellent opportunities for developing high-quality tourism, adding that renowned world tourism organizations ranked it at the very top of the lists of forecasted tourism and economic growth for the next period.

Speaking about the Maestral hotel and its owners, the PM said that the government appreciated the efforts, trust and partnership of the company Monte Rock – the owner of the hotel – which did not wait for the international verification of Montenegro’s capabilities, but has been in Montenegro for more than a decade along with its partners.

“Montenegro is a prestigious tourist destination today, one of the most attractive in the whole Mediterranean. The Maestral hotel has been recognised in Europe and beyond as one of the symbols of Montenegro’s tourism. Today we see it in a new design, as a prestigious example of construction on the Montenegrin coast… and the best confirmation of Montenegro and its investment potential,” Markovic said.

€50m invested

Markovic called in mind that during the last two years, the Monte Rock Group had invested €50m to buy and refurbish the Maestral Hotel. The Adriatic Properties company, as part of the aforementioned investment group, has invested over €150m in the past 10 years.

“In this way, our partners have strongly contributed to achieving international standards in the field of hotel management and sustainable development,” the PM said.

He called on the present business people to invest in Montenegro, saying that the goal is to polish this diamond of Europe together for the benefit of all.

Jobs for 1,250 people

The director of Maestral Christos Tsemperas also spoke at the ceremony. He thanked the visitors on behalf of the owners Paul Phua and Petros Stathis.

“Mr Phua and Mr Stathis bought this historic building less than two years ago and thus made it part of a company group. The group has been supporting the local economy for ten years now, employing 1,250 people and investing in elite tourism, the banking sector, real estate and the media. By new projects, the investors show their confidence and commitment to the economy of this country. The Maestral resort and casino have been a jewel of the beautiful Budva Riviera for 40 years,” said Tsemperas.

He said that the owners of Maestral had a vision to turn it into a hotel and entertainment complex according to international standards.

“Eight months after the renovation began and more than €20m invested, the managers and staff of this hotel will proudly welcome you to a completely renovated building. Today, it is just the beginning of the owner’s vision of transforming the Maestral into a tourist destination desirable for all tourists around the world,” said Tsemperas.

That’s why, as he stated, our company invests in HR training global marketing and in creating strong partnerships with organisations and companies in the hotel industry.

Tsemperas also thanked all who supported the renovation, as well as state institutions and bodies who helped and supported their success.
