Prime minister Dusko Markovic congratulated federal chancellor Angela Merkel on the victory of the CDU/CSU bloc at parliamentary elections in that country.
The German election commission confirmed this morning that Angela Merkel’s CDU/CSU won the general elections. Merkel says she wants a stable government.
“This election result confirms that German voters strongly support the strategic direction of your internal and foreign policies. At the same time, it opens up space for continuing fulfilling the key economic and political goals of your government. I am convinced that it will contribute to a stronger and more stable Europe, in which the region of the Western Balkans will find its place. Montenegro is sincerely and unreservedly committed to such a vision of the region and Europe, and I also want to convince you that the Government of Montenegro is your reliable partner in achieving that goal,” the prime minister said in a statement.
Markovic also expressed Montenegro’s strong interest in further strengthening the bilateral relations of the two countries in all fields, which the PP and the chancellor had discussed in detail in July on the sidelines of the Summit in Trieste.
