Marković-Maddocks meeting: It’s important for Montenegro to continue its European and Euro-Atlantic course

Montenegro and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland have extraordinary bilateral relations, good cooperation at the political level, which needs to be further enriched with stronger economic ties, Montenegro’s Prime Minister, Duško Marković, told at a meeting with the new British Ambassador to Montenegro, Karen Maddocks.

PM Marković said: “We’re very proud and grateful for the partnership, cooperation and support we were receiving from the UK on the path to European and Euro-Atlantic integration.”

Noting that cooperation has been achieved in many areas, he particularly pointed out the support in the area of the rule of law and strengthening of institutions.

According to the government, Ms Maddocks emphasized that she would be committed to further improving of cooperation between the UK and Montenegro, and that she hoped that a Partnership, Trade and Cooperation Agreement would be signed soon, representing the basis for strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.

Both agreed that it was extremely significant for Montenegro to continue with its European and Euro-Atlantic course.

Ambassador Maddocks told the UK would continue providing support in this regard, a statement from the government says.
