Marković: Montenegro isn’t the state of nations but rather state of citizens

PM Duško Marković, and the presidency of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts agreed that the history and the culture of our state were confirmed values and that the development, harmony and dialogue created the identity of the contemporary Montenegro whose reinforcement and promotion all segments of the society should work on.

“Montenegro isn’t state of nations, but it’s rather state of citizens. In such a state, all types of nationalism are dangerous and unacceptable. The basic question is whether we have answers that citizens expect us to have. We won’t stay stuck in one place and shout who the patriot is and who the enemy is. Are we going to make lists of appropriate and inappropriate ones? No. We are going to make the list of capable ones, and of those who aren’t capable”, said Marković.

He added that social dialogue was possible and desirable in any subject, except the subject of the state of Montenegro.

President of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts, the academic Dragan K. Vukčević said that the objective of the synchronized action of all relevant segments of the society of Montenegro should be Montenegro that we want to see in the future.

“As long as we fight hard for that vision, Europe will be able to recognize our efforts”, said Vukčević.

Key deficits of our state are based on insufficient development. That’s the reason why Marković insists on development policies and projects. He added that such policies had already received recognition even outside the borders of Montenegro.

“We’ll keep working with the Academy on those objectives which are relevant for the future of Montenegro. You voice is heard, and it echoes far”, said Marković.
