Marovic not at home, a warrant to follow

Budva police acted on the arrest orders against Svetozar Marovic issued by the Basic Court in Kotor. However, the former DPS vice president was not at his official home address. The court president Branko Vuckovic told Dan newspaper that he expected official notification from Budva police department. After that, he added, arrest warrant is to be issued.

The court explained that it was obvious that Marovic was not at the territory of the Municipality of Budva, but it had to comply with the procedures before issuing the international arrest warrant.

A half a year after the final verdict was imposed, the Kotor Basic Court issued an arrest order against Marovic in order for him to serve a sentence of nearly four years in prison for embezzlements in Budva. Marovic postponed serving the sentence on several occasions citing health reasons, but his latest request was denied.

The former senior official of the ruling party made two plea bargains with the Special State Prosecutor’s Office. He admitted being the leader of the so-called Budva criminal group whose frauds in the projects Jaz, TQ Plaza, Copyright, Krapina, VTE, Boulevard and Prijevor cost the state budget tens of millions of euros.
