Mayor of Ljubljana Mr. Zoran Jankovic said for Dnevne Novine daily that he believes Milo Djukanovic is one of the best politicians in the region, and that he will surely go on to be one of the strongest names in the European Union.
“The presidents of small states are very important in the EU, because small states cannot prove their power by territory and population, but rather with strength of arguments and capable and determined leaders who have a clear vision.
The man during whose mandate the capital of Slovenia won numerous awards and became the most beautiful and one of the most recognizable cities in the European Union says he is a close friend of President Djukanovic, that he keeps his photo in his office, and that he also urged him to run for president of Montenegro.
The mayor of Ljubljana also says he was taken aback by the behavior of opposition candidates for the president who would not congratulate Djukanovic on the victory achieved in free and democratic elections that passed in a peaceful and tolerant atmosphere.
Speaking about the situation in the Western Balkans, Mayor Jankovic said he is advocating the speedy entry of all the countries in the region into the EU, and that he looks forward to opening negotiations with Macedonia and Albania.
