Milošević and Miljanić named as state secretaries in the Ministry of Interior

The government has named Mr Rade Milošević and Mr Zoran Miljanić as state secretaries in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on the proposal of Interior Minister, Mr Sergej Sekulović.

Mr Milošević has already performed serious functions in 2016, when the transitional government was set up, while Mr Miljanić was running Civis.

Changes in high ranking positions in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police came immediately after the first session of the new government.

Head of the National Police, Mr Veselin Veljović, thus has a deadline to resign until the first next government’s session, which is supposed to be held on Thursday.

According to Dan daily, during yesterday’s meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Dritan Abazović, Mr Veljović was told that the police needed changes and in case he didn’t want to resign, they were going to dismiss him in the next government’s session.

However, Mr Veljović may quit in the next few days after the new government appoints the acting police chief.

Following the meeting, Mr Abazović tweeted they agreed that Mr Veljović won’t be the head of the National Police anymore.
