Montenegro earthquake: Ministry of Education will repair damaged schools

Damir Sehovic, Montenegrin minister of education, today visited Plav and Gusinje and met with directors of educational facilities. They discussed damage caused by a recent earthquake. A secretary to the Ministry, Omer Mehmetovic, attended the meeting as well. Minister Sehovic expressed his readiness to help repairing damages in educational facilities caused by a recent earthquake.

Sehovic reiterated the government’s readiness to provide help to all people needing assistance, but emphasized that over €500,000 is to be invested in schools based in Plav and Gusinje. The intention is to construct playing fields in Hajro Sahmanovic elementary school (Plav) and Dzafer Nikocevic elementary school (Gusinje).

The attendees also discussed damages caused by the earthquake in detail and set the deadlines for their repair.

Education minister, Damir Sehovic, reiterated that the Ministry’s budget for investments is by 20% higher compared to the 2017 budget.
