In cooperation with NATO Trust Fund, Ministry of Defense has completed the project of the destruction of ammunition of great destructive power. Around 459 tons have been destroyed.
The ammunition was potentially dangerous for the safety, said director of the Directorate for Material resources in the Ministry of Defense, Mrs Alma Ljuljanaj-Jovićević .
“NATO has provided great assistance in raising the level of citizens’ safety and environment improvement”, Mrs Ljuljanaj said.
Great Britain was the leading nation in the NATO Trust Fund. It carried out feasibility study and completed the project successfully.
Ms Alison Kemp, British ambassador, said that the UK cooperated with other NATO allies with pleasure.
German Ambassador, Mr Robert Weber, said he praised Montenegro’s efforts put in this domain. Germany has contributed to this project both financially and professionally.
Destruction of ammunition located in Pristan, Brezovik and Taraš storehouse has been mostly carried out by delaboration, i.e. dismantling and cutting, which means that the entire process was carried out with respect for the highest standards of environment protection.
