MNE could join EU by 2025

Tajani

President of the European Parliament, Mr. Antonio Tajani, said it is possible to reach an agreement on the accession of Serbia and Montenegro to EU membership by 2025.

“We have a number of candidate countries, but Serbia and Montenegro are in the first place”, Mr. Tajani said ahead of the EU – Western Balkans summit in Sofia.

The President of the European Parliament also says the Western Balkans are crucial for the EU which must work on the stability of the region.

“We have problems with terrorism and migration. My proposal is also to create a financial package of ten billion euros for infrastructure, highways, railways, and digital infrastructure as well”, President Tajani said.

He reiterated that he supports Mariya Gabriel’s proposal on a digital system for the Western Balkans, which implies the development of wireless Internet and the elimination of roaming.
