Montenegro and Bulgaria are going to set up a working group that’s going to specify all the details of the agreed new air route between Podgorica and Sofia, thus connecting the two better and promoting their tourism – it was agreed at the meeting of the ministers of tourism and transport of the mentioned countries – Simonida Kordic, Maja Vukicevic, Miroslav Laslov Borsos and Grozdan Karadzov. The meeting was organised in Sofia and was also attended by the Airports of Montenegro CEO, Roko Tolic, and the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Airports of Montenegro, Jelena Maras.
As agreed, the negotiation teams should comprise representatives of the two ministries, the Airports of Montenegro and the national air carriers.
“The Balkans is an undiscovered destination, having to offer a lot. We share similar challenges as well as interests – to attract tourists from foreign markets. The prerequisite is better air connectivity, that is, first of all, a direct route between our two countries. Certainly, at the same time, it’s necessary to develop an attractive offer for those tourists,” Ms Kordic said.
The newly elected tourism minister of Bulgaria thanked the Montenegrin delegation for their first official visit since the new government has been set up, underlining that the cooperation among the Balkan countries represented a key for success on the international tourism market.
The ministers of transport also agreed there was a need to develop better connectivity.
Mr Tolic said the Airports of Montenegro would be efficient in negotiations, adding that the communication with the national air carrier would clarify the possibilities for the introduction of direct flight between the two countries.
