MNE to get €4.4m funding boost for environmental protection

The Western Balkan Investment Framework (WBIF) Steering Committee has allocated extra 4.4 million euro to Montenegro for the second phase of the construction of sewerage network in Boka Bay. The additional funding was approved at the 21st Steering Committee meeting held on 16-17 December in London, organized by the European Commission and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The chief officer in the Office of the National IPA coordinator, Mr Bojan Vujović, headed the Montenegrin delegation.

After the project, for which the above-mention funds are allocated is completed, the sewerage system in Risan, Perast, Prčanj and Stoliv will be fully connected with the main sewerage effluent collector in Kotor and a wastewater treatment facility.

Funds were allocated from the budget of bilateral donors of the Western Balkans Investment Framework, with the obtained consensus of twenty countries, which, through their donations, support the functioning of this instrument mainly funded by the EU.
