Montenegro delegation visited the Province of Chaco

As part of their first visit to Argentina, head of Montenegro’s Department for Diaspora, Predrag Mitrović, president of the Municipality of Bar, Dušan Raičević, Ambassador of Montenegro to Argentina, Srđan Stanković and adviser at the Department for Diaspora, Milica Radojičić, visited the Province of Chaco on Saturday, 7 March. The delegation also visited the first Montenegrin House, met with members of the Montenegrin community ‘King Nikola’ [in Montenegrin: Kralj Nikola], the colony ‘La Montenegrina’ and then went to Roque Sáenz Peña to visit the ‘Durmitor’ club. In Resistencia, they met with the governor of the Province of Chaco, Jorge Capitanich.

During the visit to the Montenegrin House, the first to be built outside the home country, Mr Mitrović expressed gratitude for hospitality of the former Mayor of Roque Sáenz Peña, Gerardo Cipolini, who, during his term of office, donated the land on which this facility was built, which represents a true act of friendship and appreciation of the Montenegrin community that has been living in this area for more than a century.

“In addition, in his address, Mr Mitrović underlined that this was one of many proofs that diaspora represents a bridge of cooperation between the two states, and that further steps related to strengthening cooperation between Montenegro and Argentina have been undertaken, primarily concerning the future twinning of Bar with one of Argentina’s cities,“ the Department for Diaspora stated.

After they finished their work-related obligations in Roque Sáenz Peña, the delegation went to Resistencia to hold a meeting with Mr Jorge Capitanich, governor of the Province of Chaco. They discussed the need for boosting bilateral ties between Montenegro and Argentina and undertaking concrete measures for creating an agenda of joint activities aiming to strengthen cooperation with the Province of Chaco.
