Montenegro needs €59 million to deal with Covid-19 consequences

The National Preparedness and Response Plan was presented earlier today to the ambassadors accredited in Montenegro, as a complete document that contains estimated comprehensive quarterly needs of Montenegro, amounted to EUR 59 million for ten key categories: from urgent responses to combating numerous emergency socio- economic challenges.

President of the National Coordination Body for Communicable Diseases, Mr Milutin Simović, presented to the ambassadors the measures and activities which our country has taken so far and said that Montenegro is entering a critical phase, as the epidemic is expected to reach its peak next week.

“In this fight, we need both the assistance and understanding in the short term. Our actions today will save lives in the following weeks. We do not have time to make delay, and this is clearly indicated by examples of our friendly European countries, which experience one of the most dramatic moments in their history. We need to find adequate responses as soon as possible,” Mr Simović said.

Ambassadors were informed that Montenegro’s Prime Minister had already launched an initiative on a regional joint response to the coronavirus.
