Montenegro will have to knock on many doors

The new composition of the European Parliament might impede Montenegro’s communication with the European structures, as the candidate countries will have to knock on many doors, having in mind that the new composition of the European Commission, EC, would be diverse, said the President of the European Movement to Montenegro, Momčilo Radulović.

“The European election results haven’t made any substantial changes, but the European political scene would be significantly changed. Turnout in the election was high which tells us that the EU citizens are still interested in the EU’s future, their own perspective and how it’s going to be realized through the EU institutions,” Mr Radulović clarified for Pobjeda daily.

The fact that traditional mainstream parties of the center-right and center-left lost seats to smaller parties, would make the already-complex process of decision-making in the EU even more complicated, explained he.

When it comes to the position of Montenegro and the enlargement process, he believes the election results have brought nothing new.

“As for Montenegro, it’s not good that the number of addresses which create main directions of the European policy is increasing. We’ve had two main influential actors so far, and now there will be even more, coming from various political structures that are going to have a significant impact on the functioning of EU institutions.”

According to him, there’s a challenging task for Montenegro now – to establish communication with the structures not needed until now.
