Even though about a hundred of property owners from Podgorica have registered the apartments they are renting, the Municipal Inspection and Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro told CdM many of them are operating in the so-called ‘grey zone’. It’s difficult to find out the information about the people who are renting apartments so it often happens that the inspectors have to visit some locations several times. Especially difficult is to control the renting of ‘daily apartments’.

There’s no official data about the number of ‘daily apartments’ in Montenegro. The Municipal Inspection of the Capital City told CdM that 92 illegal entities, who are renting the private accommodation in the capital, have registered in the Central Tourism Register, CTR.

“Ten more approvals for renting apartments are pending, which says a lot about work results of the Municipal Inspection.”

The Municipal Inspection has started controls over providing accommodation services in apartments since 22 April this year.
