Mugoša: Decision to postpone school year is reasonable

Assistant director of the Clinical Center of Montenegro, Dr Nemanja Radojević, said that there “are no children infected with coronavirus”.

At today’s press conference, Dr Radojević said that one woman who gave birth in Podgorica had more severe clinical picture, but the baby is in good health.

“Children have greater transmission possibilities, although they have mild clinical picture. Majority of patients who passed away due to coronavirus complications are older people with underlying conditions, but we also had cases of deaths of younger people or in middle age. So we must not relax, we are all in risk”, Dr Radojević said.

Mortality of patients who are on ventilators is very high, even beyond 80%.

Director of the Institute for Public Health, Dr Boban Mugoša, pointed out that the decision  that school year should be postponed was reasonable.

“We expect Ministry of Education to consider the plan carefully and outline the final version of it. We have very high level of local transmission and, therefore, decision to postpone start of school-year was reasonable”, Dr Mugoša said.

Asked about opening borders, Dr Mugoša said that they would take into account all elements that might have an impact on the transmission of the infection.

Dr Mugoša warned that nobody had been vigilant over the last 20 days.

“Citizens are not wearing masks, are not maintain social distance… That’s unacceptable and can aggravate the situation”, Dr Mugoša said.
