Mugoša: I can’t foresee epidemic situation on election day

Director of the Institute for Public Health, Dr Boban Mugoša, said t the press conference that he “can’t predict what the epidemic situation will look like on the election day”.

“If we take a look at the situation in the past 10 days, we can state it’s stable and that we are on a god way to bring the infection under control. I can’t tell you today what it will be like on 30 August. It all depends on how citizens behave and arrivals from abroad”, Dr Mugoša said.

Parties to make sure measure are adhered to

“It sure wouldn’t be good that parties demonstrate irresponsibility because somebody will vote for them”, Dr Mugoša said.

Several parties have expressed interest in presenting their programs and so NCB adopted new order – political gatherings can count up to 50 people in indoor spaces and not more than 100 people in open spaces.

Measures to protect health

Dr Mugoša pointed out that relaxation of measures in coffee shops and religious rites was conditioned by the manner in which these areas are regulated.

“It is all defined. Religious rites are forbidden because of close contact. We are witnesses to the fact that not everybody adheres to measures. I would like to urge you to adhere to measures. They are here to protect health and lives”, Dr Mugoša says.

158 hospital patients

Director of the Institute for Children’s Diseases, Dr Saša Radović, said that 158 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized.

“In the Institute for Children’s Diseases we have a 16-year old boy. There are 31 patients in the Clinical Center, 17 in Bar, 45 in Berane, 43 in Nikšić, 13 in Brezovik, 8 in Pljevlja and one in Codra hospital”, Dr Radović said.

The system is ready

Asked if the healthcare system is ready for fall when coronavirus will “collide” with seasonal flu, Dr Radović said that the system “is and must be ready”.

“We’ll try to welcome possible overlap of coornavirus and seasonal flu with as much attention as possible”, Doctor says.

Dr Radović warns that data about great number of adolescents in the USA is concerning.

“But with caution and adequate measures, we can win this fight”, Dr Radović says.

Easy transmission from children

Dr Mugoša says that infection from children is very easily transmitted.

“I urge parents to talk to their children and make sure their contact with other children is restricted”, Dr Mugoša said.
