MUP: Procedure for revoking Montenegrin citizenship to be initiated for 2,108 people

The Ministry of the Interior (MUP) will initiate a procedure for revoking Montenegrin citizenship for 2,108 persons by force of law, because they have dual citizenship. Out of 8,000 citizens, who are on the electoral rolls of Herceg Novi, Nikšić and Montenegro, currently covered by the MUP verification procedure, due to the assumption that in addition to Montenegrin citizenship they also have the citizenship of another state, 595 people have been determined to have dual citizenship, according to the Law on Montenegrin Citizenship. Therefore, the procedure for the revocation of Montenegrin citizenship by force of law will not be initiated for those persons, the MUP has announced.
