Montenegrin Special Police Unit has traditionally taken part in this year’s Dubai Swat Challenge rolling out uniforms  with the updated design of the emblem featuring the chapel on Lovcen.

Yesterday, the National Police sent to media outlets a footage where one could spot the updated emblem of the uniforms of the Special Police Unit.

However, the police haven’t informed the public about the change of the visual identity of SPU.

The commanding officer of the Special Police Unit is Milos Rakonjac, who led the Montenegrin team in this year’s Dubai Swat Challenge.

The Montenegrin police got new uniforms in 2016, while in yesterday’s footage posted by the police, Montenegrin special unit officers wore new uniforms saying ‘Special Police Unit’.

The chapel on Lovcen and the initiative for its reconstruction is the issue that has been deeply polarising the Montenegrin society for years.

The pro-Serbian parties and its leaders in the current government advocate for its restoration.
