Level of non-performing loans reduced by 7.8%

The level of non-performing loans (NPLs) was reduced in the last month by more than €10m and it currently amounts to around 7.8%, which is a historical minimum. This was stated yesterday by the governor of the Central Bank of Montenegro, Radoje Zugic.

At the meeting with CEOs from 15 banks operating in Montenegro, Zugic said that the banks would still have to work decisively on solving NPLs. After the meeting, Zugic told journalists that the current level of NPLs was worrisome.

The meeting was organised for the purpose of reviewing the effects of the law on compromise financial restructuring of debts to financial institutions, whose amendments were adopted in June. This law, according to Zugic, has given new incentives to banks, clients and the state.
