Nuhodžić: Germany supports Montenegro’s plans to adopt Schengen standards

Germany supports Montenegro and its plans to adopt Schengen standards and strengthen border security, it was said in Berlin today, during the meeting between Minister of Interior, Mr Mevludin Nuhodžić, and federal Minister of Interior, Building and Community of Germany, Mr Horst Seehofer.

“Montenegrin police have intense and high-quality cooperation with German police in countering any form of serious and organized crime, especially drug smuggling. We are dealing with security challenges with joint forces and conclusion of the Cooperation agreement between Montenegro and Germany is the indicator of our joint efforts to further strengthen our friendship and partnership”, pointed out Mr Nuhodžić.

Mr Seehofer said that Germany continuously supported Montenegro on its European pathway.

“Germany recognizes Montenegro’s progress”, Mr Seehofer pointed out.

Ministers discussed illegal migrations which might lead to other forms of crime.

“Migration management is very high on the Ministry’s agenda. Current Balkan route of migration movements requires even more intense cooperation with the partner services in Europe, especially in the fight against smuggling networks”, said Minister Nuhodžić.

Minister confirmed agencies’ preparedness to implement laws and good practices and experience of Germany.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the fact that the incoming Forum of Ministers of justice and interior EU-Western Balkans will take place in Montenegro in September.
