In today’s session presided over by the Minister of Interior, Mr Mevludin Nuhodžić, Bureau for the operational coordination of activities performed by the intelligence and security authorities stated that the security situation in Montenegro was stable.

Mr Nuhodžić pointed out that it was necessary to enhance operational and intelligence field work and intensify activities that relate the collection of data about organized crime groups, identification of new members, financial transactions and places where members of organized criminal groups can be found.

“Competent authorities must constantly work on pinpointing where the members of criminal groups are located. It’s very important that we exchange such information with our partner services”, said Mr Nuhodžić.

The Bureau adopted the Information on the Activities aimed at combating organized crime in the first six months of this year. Work of the Police Department and other security authorities was positively evaluated by the Bureau.

“Undertaken actions are the best and the most representative proof that there no untouchable forces and that nobody’s stronger than the country. We will bring organized crime to an end”, said Mr Nuhodžić.

It was stated that additional efforts should be devoted to the improvement of regional and international cooperation, with the aim of fighting drug smuggling more efficiently.

“I expect our security and intelligence authorities to strike organized criminal groups with even more determination and fervor”, said Mr Nuhodžić.

The Bureau also adopted the Information on the measures for the protection of state border and suppression of migrations. In that context, the Bureau pointed out primary activities that should be aimed at prevention and fight against migrant smuggling, through strengthening coordination and synergy of political authorities, risk analysis and collection and exchange of intelligence data, as well as through improvement of staff and material and technical capacities.
