Nurković: We are negotiating on the continuation of highway construction

Data on the impact of dollar-euro currency movements on the highway construction should be requested from the Ministry of Finance, said the Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs, Mr Osman Nurković.

In the margins of yesterday’s international forum on traffic connection, Mr Nurković said that he couldn’t give any comments on the possibilities of constriction prices going up due to the drop i the value of euro.

“Depending on the political situation at global value, value of dollar either rise or drops. I don’t know what expert could predict what that difference will be like once the highway is finished”, said Minister Nurković.

He pointed out that Ministry “deals with the construction itself”.

“The deadline has been extended. The focus is now on the quality of works. We want the highest possible, European-standard quality. Benefits of the highway will be multiple. We are talking now with several interested companies regarding the model of the next phase of the construction. We are looking for most favorable conditions and the right moment. We applied for a grant from the EC for the second and the third highway section”, said Mr Nurković.

Minister said that the objective was to “further promote Montenegro as an attractive location for new investments that guarantee high-quality and safe traffic connections”.

“We remain open to all potential partners. There’s also room for railway infrastructure and airport projects. Only countries which have firm connections with gravitating markets can count on long-term and stable economic growth”, said Mr Nurković.
